Packed house for Coulter Partners' latest HealthTech Ecosystem breakfast

Our recent HealthTech breakfast event proved to be a major draw, attracting a broad range of stakeholders from the NHS, pharmaceutical industry, MedTech sector, startup investing community, and technology world.

The event featured a series of micropanels that sparked lively discussions.

In the first panel, Hebe Middlemiss (AstraZeneca), Hakim Yadi Ph.D. OBE (Closed Loop Medicine) and Toby Basey-Fisher (Entia) discussed the opportunities and challenges within and beyond the pharmaceutical industry: Pharma is keen on innovation, including AI, and is receptive to partnerships. However, Pharma may lack the specific expertise to navigate these new frontiers, making it essential for startups to proactively propose solutions and strategies.

Next, we had an investor micropanel from seed to growth with Pam Garside (Cambridge Angels), Issy Gordon (Salica Investments), and Abigail Bolton (Optum Ventures). While acknowledging previous challenges, the panel emphasized the continued potential for groundbreaking advancements, particularly in grassroots initiatives. Despite recent turbulence, the future of innovation appears promising.

Finally we had our connector micropanel with Hassan Chaudhury HonFAPM (Opto Health), Dominick Kennerson (HSBC Innovation Banking) and Alex Merwin (Amazon Web Services (AWS)). While market recovery is slow and innovation accelerators sometimes miss the mark, the panel expressed optimism about the democratizing power of generative AI and emphasized the critical role of data accessibility in shaping the future.

A big shout-out to the Coulter Partners team, Amy, Ian, Joanna, Mel, Natanya, Ruby, and Valentina for putting together such a successful and engaging HealthTech breakfast event.
